A little backround

We did things a little differently.  We had been looking at rings together for quite some time but never really found what I wanted.  One day about a year ago I found it.  It was way out of our price range so we just left it at that but I secretly checked up on it a couple times.  Day after Thanksgiving my mother and I were out and she had not seen it yet so I showed her.  The store that carries it was discontinuing many vendors so it was drastically discounted.  I came home that night and told Matt and he bought it the next day.  It was bought with the understanding that I would still have to wait till he wanted to propose that just because he bought the ring didn't mean he was ready yet.

It was the 3rd of July

We technically consider out anniversary the 3rd of July because that is when Matt moved here.  I really wanted fireworks for the proposal and we have a huge fireworks show the day before the 4th every year so it only seems fitting that it worked out this way.  Matt tried everything in his power to not do it on this day so it would be more of a surprise.

We were going to see the fireworks anyways and there was an 85% chance of rain but we decided not just sit at home.  We bought chairs and umbrellas and decided to rough it out.

It started raining so bad we couldn't even cover it with umbrellas so we ventured back to the car soaking wet.  The radio and internet was saying the fireworks would still go so we waited it out.  Once they started going off we went back outside and set up chairs to watch the 20ish minute display.

We were just watching the fireworks and by that point so much had gone so wrong in the night I was sure it wasnt happening, but I was wrong.  Next thing I know he has the ring in his hand and is asking him and of course I said yes.

The ring

Its exactly what I wanted something classic in most aspects but still surprising in others.
